Description
Your theme looks great—until you reach the comments.
Better Comments gives you a clean set of controls for the comment form, comments, reply links, and avatars. No custom CSS required, no replacement comment platform, and no changes to your existing comments.
Why Better Comments?
- Give the comment form the same visual language as the rest of your site.
- Make comment cards, reply links, fields, and focus states feel intentional.
- Choose an avatar shape that fits your brand, from circles to polygons and stars.
- Let registered users upload a custom avatar from their profile.
- Improve smaller screens without rebuilding your theme’s comment template.
- Keep WordPress native: your comments, hooks, filters, and moderation workflow stay in place.
- Keep the frontend lean: assets load only where comments are displayed, and generated styles are cached.

FAQ
-
Will it work with my theme?
-
Better Comments targets WordPress’s native comment markup and common wrappers such as
#comments,.comments-area,.comment-respond, andform.comment-form. A theme with completely custom comment markup may need a small CSS adjustment. -
Does it replace my comment system?
-
No. Better Comments styles WordPress’s native comments. It does not replace them with Disqus, Facebook Comments, or another service.
-
Is it fast?
-
Better Comments is designed to stay lightweight. Frontend assets load only on singular pages with open comments, generated settings CSS is cached, and avatar replacements are cached per request. Performance still depends on your theme, plugins, hosting, and cache configuration.
-
Is it secure?
-
The plugin uses WordPress sanitization, escaping, capability checks, and prepared queries. Keep WordPress, PHP, Carbon Fields, and the Freemius SDK updated, and review custom quicktags before publishing them.
-
Is it translation-ready?
-
Yes. The plugin uses the
better-commentstext domain. Development translation sources are kept in/dev. -
Where can I get support?
-
Free users can use the WordPress.org support forum. Pro users receive priority support.
